Nicole Gee

Designing change with people, not to them

Nicole works with organisations facing the kind of transformation where the org chart only tells part of the story. Her focus is on what is really happening beneath the surface and what is getting in the way of progress.

She brings people together to work through that reality in a practical, grounded way. Rather than applying a fixed methodology, Nicole designs with organisations, helping them build the confidence and capability to lead change themselves. This often means creating the space for honest conversations, working face to face, and giving issues the time they need to be properly understood.

Across more than twenty years, a consistent thread in her work is a deep curiosity about how people, structures and ways of working either enable or frustrate what an organisation is trying to do. She is particularly interested in how to balance organisational effectiveness with creating the conditions for people to do their best work.

Her experience includes leading the merger of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the Department for International Development (DFID), serving as interim Chief People Officer at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and leading Tesco’s global finance transformation. She has also worked with organisations includingUnilever, Costa Coffee, Dixons Carphone and DS Smith. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD) and holds PRINCE2 and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) accreditations.

"I’m interested in what’s actually getting in the way, not just what looks good in a framework."
